
Buddy Joe Adcock, beloved father, papaw, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on his 66th birthday, August 4, 2025, in his hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky. Buddy was retired from Kroger after 41 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Known for his beautiful blue eyes, and warm spirit, Buddy brought joy and laughter wherever he went. He loved his dog Addie, playing cards, whistling his favorite tunes, fishing, and watching TV—but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. To those who knew him best, he was the best dad, papaw and brother in the world.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert Adcock and Wilma Bruner Adcock Edwards; stepfather, James (Lumm) Edwards; son, Justin Adcock; sister, Carol Braden; three brothers-in-law, Jerry Braden, Floyd Ray, and Dennis Martin.
He is survived by his two daughters, Nickole Adcock (Patrick) and Emily McDuffee (Dylan). Their mother and his longtime friend, Cat Hudson. Buddy also leaves behind four loving sisters, Barbara Ray, Paula Cox (Darrell), Joyce Martin and Connie Reedy; his cousin and lifelong best friend, Jimmy Oller; several nieces and nephews. He was a proud papaw to his three grandchildren, Jeriah, Kiel, and Kimbryn
Buddy’s presence was a steady comfort and quiet joy in the lives of those who loved him. His memory will be cherished deeply and carried forward with love, stories, and the sound of his whistle echoing in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Bells Run Cemetery in Ohio County, Kentucky. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
