Raymond W. Nix, 76, of Owensboro, KY, passed away on August 25, 2025. He was born on September 15, 1948, to the late James I. and Attie Belle (Halstead) Nix.
Raymond was previously a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher and shared his love of faith with others. Dedicated to his community, he volunteered with the Masonville Fire Department and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Raymond owned and operated Nix Home Repair for more than 15 years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cheering on NASCAR, riding motorcycles with his son, and playing the guitar. His love for family, friends, and the simple joys of life will be fondly remembered.
Those left to cherish Raymond’s memory include his wife of 34 years, Marilyn (Johnson) Nix, his children, Darla Nix (John) Oldham, R.J. Nix, Angela Christian, and Michael Christian; his siblings, Irvin Lee (Mary) Nix and Debbie (John) Nix Gilbreath; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and his best friend, Lee Markwell.
In addition to his parents, Raymond is preceded in death by his brother, James Robert Wethington, and the mother of his children, Anna Lois Nix.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, with Pastor Adam Roach presiding. Friends and family are invited to visitation, at the funeral home, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 28, from 9:00 am until the time of service, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Clear Run Cemetery in Hartford, KY.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations made payable to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Kentucky at 3419 Wathen’s Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
