William “Bill” Gene Young, 81, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Twin Rivers Nursing Home. He was born December 7, 1943 in Daviess County to the late Joseph and Birdie Mae Hagan Young. Bill retired from South Spencer School System and previously worked at Daviess County School Bus Garage. He worked at every body shop in Owensboro in his younger years, including Harry Holder Ford. He was a member of Glenville Baptist Church. Bill was a car enthusiast and enjoyed NASCAR.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Young and his wife, Shirley; and an infant sister, Janet Young.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maxine Young; children, Gene Young (Julie), Stephanie Cooper (Michael), and Jeff Young; five grandchildren, Mckay Cooper (Madison), Seth Cooper, Mitchell Seeber, Steve Seeber, and Elizabeth Reuter; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Wright and James Wright; two brothers, Jimmy Young (Ruth) and Donnie Young (Linda); and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be private.
