Noretta L. Thompson, 88, of Owensboro, KY, passed away on September 7, 2025. She was born on July 26, 1937, to the late Earl and Lona (Knox) Lowery.
Noretta deeply loved her family and cherished time spent with them. She was a loving and devoted caregiver to her husband for over 15 years. She enjoyed cheering on UK Basketball, celebrating birthdays and family holiday gatherings, playing bingo, singing, and bringing people together by organizing class reunions. She was a member of the YMCA, the Telephone Pioneers, and Blessed Mother Catholic Church.
Those left to cherish Noretta’s memory include her children, Shane (Terri) Thompson and Shannon (Kevin) Robbins, her grandchildren, Hannah Robbins and Joshua (Shayna) Thompson, and her great grandchildren, Callie and Kinley Thompson.
In addition to her parents, Noretta is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dennis Thompson, and her siblings, Geneva (Calvin) Easter, Darvin (Sandy) Lowery, and Odean (Anita) Lowery.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, with Father Ray Clark presiding. Friends and family are invited to visitation, at the funeral home, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A committal service will take place, at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum, following services.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations made payable to Carmel Home at 2501 Old Hartford Rd, Owensboro, KY 42303. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
