Joseph “Boo” Wayne Prater, 31, of Owensboro, KY, passed away on September 10, 2025. He was born on October 31, 1993, to Joe and Tracy (Masterson) Prater.
Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, and he found peace in spending time outdoors throughout his life. He loved playing video games with his kids, creating fun memories together, and he had a genuine passion for learning new things, always eager to explore new skills and interests. Joseph was a dedicated Machine Operator at Swedish Match.
Joseph is preceded in death his paternal grandparents, Mary and Bud Muffett, and maternal grandparents, Gene Masterson and Tommy Kirk.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of ten years, Emily (Lortie) Prater; his children, Joseph Allen and Riley Jean Prater; his parents, Joe and Tracy (Masterson) Prater; his siblings, Nick (Rebecca) Prater, Bryce Hamm, and John Adams; his uncles, Butch and Ray Masterson, and Chris Muffett; his grandmother, Judith Kirk; his niece, Chloe Strasburger, and his nephew, Ethan (Maleya Pence) Strasburger.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory.
