Mary Lois Millay, 93, passed away peacefully in the care of the Heartford House, hospice of Western Kentucky, on September 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted mother and cherished friend, Mary leaves behind a legacy of love that will be remembered for generations.

Mary was born on January 26, 1932, in Owensboro, KY to Pius and Mary Evelyn Montgomery. Mary was the proud mother of five children, including her surviving daughters, Margaret “Maggie” Belew and Victoria Woods(Richard), and sons Richard Millay(Imelda) and James L. Millay(Diana). She was predeceased by her daughter Brenda Simmons, and son-in-laws Gene Simmons and Allan Belew, stepmother Rena Montgomery, and sisters Anna Custer and Teresa Stallings. Mary was also a loving wife to John Millay, who passed away prior to her.

Mary’s love extended beyond her immediate family; she was blessed with 12 grandchildren: David Simmons, Lisa Henderson (Darrell), Tonya Weikel (Chris), Stacy Ford (Artie), Karrie Simmons, Jeff Simmons (Sarah), Cindy Simmons, Sheena Jones (Clint), Eric Millay (Julie), Brandon Millay, Deron Millay, and Karlee Millay (Chase). Additionally, her legacy continues through her 23 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Martha Horton and Judy Logsdon.

Mary’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her faith. An active member of the Catholic Church, she embodied her faith through her actions and care for others. Mary spent many rewarding years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Hill Crest Nursing Home, where her compassion and dedication shone brightly as she cared for her patients.

Known for her nurturing spirit, Mary cherished the moments spent with her family, always bringing warmth and joy to those around her. She was an amazing mother and grandmother, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

Mary Lois Millay will be deeply missed, but her memory will be treasured by her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared in life.

Visitation will be held at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, Sep, 18th, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., with prayers beginning at 6:30 p.m.. Visitation will continue on Friday, Sep. 19th, 2025 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral mass at 12:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
