Carmen Smiley Vanegas, born on September 5, 1983, in Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away at her residence in Petersburg, Indiana, on September 15, 2025.
Carmen filled her life with a multitude of passions. She embraced the joy of dancing and singing, frequently sharing her love for music with friends and family. She fluently spoke both English and Spanish, engaging those around her with her lively conversations and laughter. As someone with a keen interest in fixing things, she collected various hobbies. Carmen enjoyed cooking and most of all spending time with those she loved.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Cloudina Smiley and a son, Christopher Carie.
Those left to cherish her memory include her father, Tommy Smiley; children, Catalina Stokes, Drake McBride, Alando Vanegas, Felix Vanegas, Nevaeh Smiley and Ramiro Vanegas; siblings, Chasity Bratcher and James Smiley (Laura); as well as many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Carmen will be 4 PM Saturday, September 20, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 12 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
