Carl Thomas Millay, 76, of Owensboro, KY, passed away on September 26, 2025. He was born on September 16, 1949, to the late Ferman and Burnette (Coomes) Millay. A proud graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School, Class of 1967, Carl went on to retire from Century Aluminum, where he worked in mechanical maintenance for over 29 years.
Carl was an active member of the Men’s Club and church congregation at Immaculate Parish. Despite being legally blind, he found great joy in riding his bicycle. He also loved spending time outdoors fishing and duck hunting. Carl cherished the camaraderie of his coffee group at Gary’s Restaurant and made a daily stop at Starbucks part of his routine. He kept up with the world by listening to his phone as it read the newspaper to him, always staying connected and engaged. He enjoyed traveling and was a master at fixing just about anything under the sun, always ready to lend a hand when something needed repairing.
Along with his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his brothers, Greg and Dennis Millay.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 56 years, Brenda Jane (Murphy) Millay; his children, Don (Shelly) Millay, Lisa Millay Riney, and Ronnie (Lisa) Millay, all of Owensboro; his grandchildren, Tyler (Emily) Millay, Murphy Riney, Hannah Millay (and her fiancé, Markel, and his daughter, Korbyn), Harley Millay, and Brody Millay; great-grandchildren, Rylee Millay, Maddex Millay, Cecilia Millay, Camille Farmer, and Harper Farmer, and his siblings, Julia Ann Millay, Malcolm (Frida) Millay, Rose Marie (David) Cecil, Steve (Cindy) Millay, Eddie (Monty) Millay, Kenneth (Lisa) Millay, Phillip (Shannon) Millay, and Mary Beth (David) Clark.
