Joseph C. “JC” Knott, 89, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on October 28, 2025, in Dardenne Prairie, MO with family by his side. He was born in Owensboro, KY on September 21, 1936, to the late Michael R. and Rosalie (Abell) Knott.
JC was a farmer for many years and lived in Sorgho, KY. He later worked for Ragu as a forklift operator, retiring in 2003. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. JC enjoyed Christmas and was known for decorating his house with Christmas lights every year. He also enjoyed gardening, grilling and entertaining at home, doing home improvement projects for himself and his kids, trips to Hawaii and Ireland, and visiting with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, JC is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Lee Knott; his daughter, Kathleen Knott, and his brothers, Charles, Paul, and Michael Knott, and his sisters, Lucille Hayden, Helen Woodward, Jane Kondrad, Dorothy Calhoun, Carolyn Knott, and Ruth Cecil.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Michael (Carla) Knott, James (Layne) Knott, and Peggy (Perrin) Curran; his grandchildren, Owen Curran, Ethan Curran, Riley Curran, Evan Knott, Ava Knott, and Lily Knott, and his brother-in-law, Joe Blakely.
Services will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at St Stephen Cathedral, with Father John Thomas officiating. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, at the Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory.
