Larry Thomas Troutman

Larry Thomas Troutman, known to many as Larry Tom, 66, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 surrounded by family in a room full of love. Born and raised in Daviess County, Larry lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and devotion to his children and grandchildren. A man who could fix just about anything with a motor. If he didn’t know how, he’d teach himself how by reading books until he figured it out. Larry had a deep love for cars, or anything that would go fast, music, playing the guitar, shooting pool, being outside working in the yard, or when able, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

More than anything, he cherished his time with his children and grandchildren. They were his greatest joy, and he loved them with all of his heart and soul. Larry had a heart of gold and never hesitated to give to others even if it meant him going without.

Larry was a humble man who never liked being the center of attention. You had to catch him in photos when he wasn’t looking. In the end, all he wanted was to be surrounded by love and family. He understood that family is what truly matters most in the world. His family finds comfort knowing he passed, knowing how important and loved he was.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Aull; father, Austin Ray Troutman; stepdad, Joseph Carl Aull; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Marietta Troutman; and maternal grandparents, Edgar and Florence Sharp.

He is survived by his children, Matthew (Alice) Troutman and Paige (Otis) Sowders; grandchildren, Peyton, Paisley, Axston, Christian, Brooklyn, Donnie, Michael, Casey, and Booter; siblings, Linda (Calvin) Howe, Jeannie Turner, and Michael Troutman; his lifelong friend who he called a brother, Kevin Bickett; and step-siblings, Jeff Aull, Lisa Aull Ford, Kay (Rodney) Smeathers, and Wayne (Melissa) Aull. Though not married, Larry shared a special friendship and respect with the mother of his children, Sharon Alsup.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
