
CENTRAL CITY—-Marjorie Loy Clay, 86, of Central City, KY passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Muhlenberg County on September 23, 1939. the daughter of Glenn Williams and Katie Gertrude Elkins Williams. She was a friend to all who knew her and was loved by many. A member of Greens Chapel General Baptist Church, she loved gospel music and served her Lord and Savior with her gift as the piano accompaniment and role model to her beloved church family. As a novice writer and poet, her biographic stories continue to be cherished and enjoyed by her grandchildren. She loved oil painting and gardening, but her real passion was cooking. She was employed by several companies in the trucking industry throughout the years as a bookkeeper, receptionist, and liaison.
She was preceded by her husband John Clay of Carthage, Missouri; her parents; brother Howard Williams; two daughters Deborah (John) Tippett of Dunmor, KY, and Beverly Crews Henss of Germantown, ILL. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 7 at 2:00 PM at Greens Chapel General Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Jeremy Teague.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Eddie) Cook; Step-Daughter, Rebecca Clay; seven grandchildren, Jason (Cassie) Tippett, Jeremiah (Ashley) Tippett, Catey (Joe) Brown, Angela (Nathaniel) Nash, Bradley Henss, Bryan (Lisa) Henss, Nick (Breanna) Henss; several great grandchildren.
