Jerry worked as a Pipefitter (Local Union #597). He loved to play his guitar and sing, and his family enjoyed nothing more than hearing him play and sing. He enjoyed shooting pool and drinking Bud Light. In his younger years he was a square dance caller. After he retired, riding his mower became one of his greatest joys – he was happiest on that mower, and even when the grass didn’t need it, he would say “I better get out there and cut the grass”

He was a Member of several Masonic lodges, Grand Lecturer in the state of Illinois, and past Master Mason of the Wilmington, IL Lodge #208
Jerry was a very hard worker, a fabulous singer, and a great storyteller. He may have been a handful now and then, but he was ours – and we will miss him more than words can say.

Funeral and Masonic services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 1 PM with burial in the Horsley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Monday.
