Jermaine “Jay” Johnson, 24, of Owensboro passed away December 18, 2025. He was born on December 28, 2000, to Jermaine Montrell Johnson, Sr. and Kamesha (Walls) Johnson.
Jay had a deep love for music. He enjoyed playing instruments, singing, rapping, keyboard, tenor sax, and was especially drawn to the power and rhythm of drums. Music held a special and meaningful place in his life. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Jay is preceded in death by his grandfather, Lawrence “Texas Tom” Merriweather, and special grandmother, Joyce Robinson.
Those left to cherish Jay’s memory include his parents; his siblings, Christinae “Dayqwan” Walls, Terricka Walls, Marquez “Man” Walls, Unique “Nickie” Johnson, and Keelan Morrison; his paternal grandparents, James and Barbara Amos; his maternal grandparents, Richard and Cynthia Johnson, and cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and niece and nephew.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Sunday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
