
Kenneth “Corky” Owens, 66, of Henderson, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at his home. He was raised in Tyler, Tx where he discovered young his love for music. He later went on to play with artists like Joe Stampley, Perfect Strangers, and then spent 15 years as country music artist Gene Watson’s steel guitar player and band leader. Corky loved spending time with his grandkids and his dog, Simba. He also loved his dogs, Harley and Nala, before they passed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Wanda Bass Owens.
He is survived by his wife, Stacy Owens; daughters, Chelsea Tindall and Haley Burns; two grandchildren, Wyatt Chaney and Warren Chaney; and sisters, Cindy Bourland of Childress, Texas and Charlotte French of Hodgen, Oklahoma.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
