George S. Hagan III, age 81, entered into his eternal rest on February 3, 2026. A man of unwavering faith and tireless work ethic, George has claimed the promise of his salvation and is now rejoicing in the heavenly realm, reunited with the love of his life, Sandra E. (Freeman) Hagan.
Born in Selma, Alabama, on March 27, 1944, to the late George S. and Lillian (Tanner) Hagan Jr., George was a man who didn’t believe in waiting for life to happen. In an act of true patriotism, he chose to enlist in the United States Army for three years, answering the call to serve his country with honor.
His professional legacy was as varied as it was impactful. A true “builder” in every sense, his career spanned roles as a land surveyor, builder, real estate broker, banker, and business owner. George was a fixture in his community, actively involved in various business, civic and church organizations. business, civic and church organizations. He enjoyed his membership with local hobby clubs, where he spent many happy hours discussing the finer points of historical artifacts and heritage. Some of his most cherished memories were made on the sun-drenched beaches of Florida, where he found peace in the rhythm of the waves and the patient art of shoreline fishing.
The eldest of eight siblings, George took his role as a patriarch seriously, leading his family with quiet strength. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Sandra; and his sister, Beverly Freeman.
He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory, including his children: George S. (Melissa) Hagan IV, Jennifer (David) Lyons, and Heather Lane. George was the proud grandfather of 11 grandkids and one great grandkid. He is also survived by his six brothers: Mike, Steve, John, Jim, Chris, and Tom, along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Rejmon Dedaj, the staff at Deaconess, and the Hospice team for their compassionate care during George’s journey with pulmonary fibrosis.
While his family grieves his passing, they find peace in the absolute truth that he is now in the presence of his Savior—restored, whole, and rejoicing. His life stood as a testament to love, service, and a faith that never wavered.
