Zachary Kemplin, 48, of Owensboro passed away February 17, 2026. He was born on October 3, 1977, to Kathy and Dan Kemplin.
Zachary lived life out loud and on his own terms. He loved bowling, getting new tattoos, going to concerts, and anything that involved fast cars and adrenaline. He was known for playfully “torturing” his nightshift staff with Fear Factor challenges, always keeping things lively and full of laughter. You could often find him hanging out at Gramps Donuts, shopping, or trying a new place to eat. He enjoyed running marathons with Matthew and was never afraid to do something bold or fun with his hair. More than anything, Zachary loved people — deeply and completely, in a way most rarely experienced. His presence truly lit up a room, and he made everyone feel seen, included, and valued.
Zachary is preceded in death by his grandfather, Eugene Moore, and grandparents, William and Lona Kemplin.
In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his siblings, Saradan (Jason Rapp) Kemplin and Mayme (Tobin) Furnish, and his nieces and nephews, Jonah, Jaxson, Ansley, and Abram.
Funeral services will be 12:30 pm, Saturday, February 21, at the Wendell Foster Center Young Building, with Carl Willoughby officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 21, from 11:00 am until time of service at Wendell Foster Center. All past and present residents and staff from Wendell Foster Center are welcome to attend.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations made payable to Wendell Foster at 815 Triplett St, Owensboro, KY 42303.
