Wavie “Eddie” Henning, 55 of Falls of Rough, KY, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, in Lexington, KY. Born on November 12, 1970, in Hardinsburg, KY. Eddie was the son of Lennie Henning and the late John Henning. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne and Johnny Henning.
Eddie was a carpenter for most of his life – and a good one. He didn’t just build things, he built them with pride. His talent showed in everything he touched. One of his proudest creations was a hand-built Trojan horse he made for his daughter’s middle school social studies project-stained, detailed and unforgettable. That was Eddie – if he was going to do something, he was going to do it right.
He loved music – especially Elvis – and you could often find him with a song playing nearby. He was funny, stubborn, sarcastic in the best way, and a natural storyteller. He had a way of listening that made you feel important. He loved his mom deeply and his children more.
Eddie leaves behind three children: Savannah Guess (Silas), Rhys Henning and Jackson Henning. He is also survived by eight siblings and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. His stories, his laughter and the things he built – both with his hands and in our hearts – will live on forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 28, 2026, from 4 – 7 PM at Mel’s Café in Leitchfield, KY. If you have photos or special memories of Eddie, the family would love for you to bring them so we can all look, share stories, and remember him together.
