Letter to the Editor

My name is William Dakota Compton. I’m a teacher, a proud Kentuckian, and I’m running to represent Kentucky’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House.

I’m running because working families in our district are being left behind. Brett Guthrie just voted for H.R. 1 — the extreme budget bill that would slash Medicaid, threaten over 35 rural hospitals across Kentucky, and defund programs that keep our communities strong. That vote puts lives at risk, and it tells us exactly who Guthrie is working for: not us.

I believe the people of this district deserve answers — which is why I’ve publicly challenged Congressman Guthrie to a town hall debate. Not a closed-door event, not a choreographed appearance — an honest, open debate in front of the voters we both want to represent. So far, he hasn’t responded.

I’ll show up. I’ll answer questions. And I’ll fight to make sure KY-02 finally gets a voice in Congress that listens.

If you believe our district deserves better, I hope to earn your support in the 2026 elections.

Sincerely,
William Dakota Compton
Democratic Candidate for U.S. House (KY-02)
