Three local teams hit the road to Louisville Saturday to compete in the KTCCCA Class 3A Indoor State Championships at the new Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
Apollo, Daviess County and Owensboro all had solid finishers with a few grabbing top-three spots in their respective events.
The Owensboro Red Devils finished third overall with 48 while points St. Xavier cruised to the win with 114 points. The Lady Panthers finished fourth overall with 32 points while Assumption grabbed the title with 88 points.
Owensboro’s Reece Carroll finished third in the 200-meter dash and also took sixth in the 60-meter and fourth in the 400-meter dash. Apollo’s Nicholas Szemethy finished second in the 800-meter run while DC’s Brady Terry took fourth in the 1,500-meter run. Apollo’s Thomas Ashby grabbed a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run.
Owensboro’s Eli Early finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles while the Red Devils finished third in the 4×400-meter relay. Javonte McHenry finished third in the high jump for OHS.
On the girls’ side, Daviess County’s Kyra Rowan finished second in the 400-meter dash and grabbed a school record in the event with a time of 1:00.49.
DC’s Emily Rempe finished second in the 800-meter run while the Lady Panthers grabbed third in the 4×800-meter relay.
