Owensboro natives compete in 87th FirstEnergy All American Soap Box Derby World Championship

Last week, 12 Owensboro natives arrived in Akron, Ohio, to compete in a week of races, leading up to the 87th FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby World Championship, which was held on Saturday. In the World Championship, nine-year-old Benson Tharp finished seventh in the Rally Stock Racer, 15-year-old Brayden Locher placed eighth in the Rally Super Stock Racer, and 17-year-old Benji Edds was seventh in the Rally Master Racer.

Earlier in the week, Sadie Meyer finished third in the Stock All-Star, while Locher became the 2025 Local Super Stock Challenge Champion. The World Championship was the culmination of a year-long season that saw the 12 Owensboro races finish first in a combined 40 races.

Jack Clark, Brandon Weaver, Isabella Rosa, and Locher all won Local Champions races in their respective divisions, while Carsyn Locher, Drew Meyer, Zack Gordon, Addison Locher, Ryan Locher, Sadie Meyer, Edds, and Tharp all won Rally Champions races in their respective divisions.
