Tied 2-2 entering penalty kicks, Starr Dickerson and Landry Humphrey nailed their shots to help McLean County outlast Muhlenberg County 3-2 to improve to a 5-1 start, the best in program history. Landry Humphrey scored in regulation on a corner kick, and Lily Miller added a goal in front of the box off a corner. Haley Louden finished with seven saves in goal.
“We needed a statement win and this was it,” McLean County Head Coach Ricky Humphrey said. “We fell behind 2-1, and the girls never gave up. The 5-1 start is now the best in program history, but this team isn’t finished. It’s only August.”
