McLean County won a thriller over Union County, while Owensboro Catholic and Trinity (Whitesville) both lost.

McLean County 3, Union County 2

Trailing 2-0, the Lady Cougars won three straight sets to shock Union County 3-2 (22-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-11). Annie Shelton led the team in digs and kills with 25 and 11, and Hadley Young added 15 digs, while Amelia Aull and Hadlie Coursey combined for 30 assists.

“I am incredibly proud of the way they never gave up tonight,” McLean County Head Coach Traci Capps said.

Greenwood 3, Owensboro Catholic 0

Mayme Powell finished with a team-high 19 assists and added five digs, two blocks, and two kills in Owensboro Catholic’s 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-20) loss to Greenwood. Ava Martin recorded 15 digs, 10 kills, and two service aces, while Molly Arnold had 16 digs and two service aces.

Grayson County 3, Trinity (Whitesville) 1

Emmy Edge had 24 assists and Laney Mills recorded 23 digs in the Lady Raiders’ 3-1 (25-27, 25-20, 25-17, 25-18) loss to Grayson County. Annie Coomes had seven blocks and five kills, while Ava Coomes finished with six kills, six blocks, and three service aces.

“We played from behind almost each set, and we played well to battle back and win the first set,” Trinity (Whitesville) Head Coach Adam Huff said. “Each set, we kind of dug a hole at the beginning and had to get back into all of them. We were a little timid at times and played too sparingly on some of our attacks, and Grayson is the kind of team that will make you pay for the long rallies. Overall, we did some good things and also know what we will have to do a better job at to be successful against them throughout the district season.”
