In a pair of 9th district matches, Daviess County and Owensboro both came out on top.
Daviess County 4, Apollo 2
Atley Thompson found Silas Goebel in the 15th minute to put the Panthers on the board in their eventual 4-2 win over Apollo. Saw Mu and Taylor Hoak assisted each other for the team’s second and third goals, while Thompson found Jake Johnson in the 40th minute for the exclamation point. Apollo scored two goals in the last twenty minutes, taking advantage of the Panthers’ late substitutions.
“We played really well in moments and put a lot of pressure on their goal early, which was part of the plan,” Daviess County Head Coach Dale Armistead said. “We had a lot of shots, deep throw-ins, and corners early on, which we did well.”
Owensboro 5, Owensboro Catholic 0
Jackson Sigler and Denis Juma both scored twice, while Peter Mbayo finished with a goal and two assists to power Owensboro past Owensboro Catholic 5-0. Kyle Hardison, Patrick Alexander, and Juma all recorded assists, while Kaleb Davidson finished with three saves in goal.
