Owensboro won 1-0 at home, while Daviess County came from behind to beat Henderson County.
Owensboro 1, Madisonville-North Hopkins 0
It was only fitting that on senior night senior Garrett Ferry fed Peter Mbayo for the lone goal of the game in Owensboro’s 1-0 win over Madisonville-North Hopkins.
“For senior night, we were able to play several guys in places that are usually occupied by the original 11,” Owensboro Head Coach Ryan Haley said. “We had some key guys with injuries, but we are happy to walk away with the 1-0 win.”
Daviess County 3, Henderson County 2
Trailing 2-0, Daviess County scored in the 33rd, 50th, and 64th minutes to beat Henderson County 3-2. Silas Goebel found Gabe Sandefur for the team’s first goal of the game and in the second half, Saw Mu scored an unassisted goal to tie it. 14 minutes later, Gobel tallied his second assist of the game, this time to Carter Houk for the game winner.
“In the second half, our guys really cranked it up a notch and won a lot off 50/50 balls,” Daviess County Head Coach Dale Armistead said. “We were much better at creating overloads on the wings, and we were able to capitalize on a couple of those chances to pull ahead 3-2. Credit to Henderson for really starting the game out with a ton of energy and pressing all over the pitch.”
