McLean County’s Aden Bolden rushed for four touchdowns and the defense forced multiple turnovers in the Cougars’ dominant 44-14 win over Webster County. Scheduled for Friday evening, the game was pushed back a day due to the weather, but the Cougars did not skip a beat.
McLean County took a quick 8-0 lead after Connor Ward scampered in from 36 yards out, and Bolden busted through on the two-point attempt. Bolden scored on the Cougars’ ensuing possession from 26 yards out, and a Hunter Stratton interception gave the ball right back to the offense.
After a 15-yard run by Maddox Ozborne, Bolden scored from six yards out to push the lead to 20-0. On the following possession, a fumble recovery by Zayden Turner culminated in a Riley Walker eight-yard rushing touchdown. Shortly before the half, Bolden scored his third touchdown of the night from four yards out, handing the Cougars a commanding 32-0 lead.
In the second half, the Cougars scored two more touchdowns on a Bolden 20-yard run and Trokoby Gill returning a kickoff to the house.
“I thought our kids adapted to the change of venue and time well,” McLean County Head Coach Zach Wagner said. “Young kids made the most of the opportunities they were given.”
The Cougars are back in action next Friday when they host Daviess County.
