Apollo beat Owensboro Catholic, while McLean County and Trinity (Whitesville) both lost.
Apollo 57, Owensboro Catholic 54
Landon Henning scored 10 of his team-high 17 points in the first half, and Carlos Cruz added 16 points to power the Eagles past Owensboro Catholic 57-54. Tate Powers was third on the team in scoring with 12 points, and Eli Williams and Kayden Green both finished with six points.
“This was a gritty win,” Apollo Head Coach Ryne Tinsley said. “We didn’t play our best, but we found a way tonight.”
For the Aces, Jake Murphy led the way with 18 points, and Solly Smith added 11 points. Dre’Mail Carothers and Braylon Coots both finished with nine points.
Ohio County 43, McLean County 37
With the score 18-16 at halftime, McLean County struggled at times to contain Emanuel Suarez down the stretch as the Cougars fell 43-37. Camden Baird led the way for McLean County with 15 points.
Grayson County 82, Trinity (Whitesville) 34
Trailing Grayson County 12-11 entering the second quarter, Trinity (Whitesville) ran out of steam, falling 82-34. Harrison Barnett led the way with 11 points, and Grant Howard added 10 points. Cale Boarman was third on the team in scoring with eight points, and Mason Smith recorded five points.
“I’m not happy with the outcome, but I saw some things we can work on,” Trinity (Whitesville) Head Coach Nathan West said. “Hopefully, we can fix some things before we head back to their place for a rematch in a few weeks.”
