Gateway Commons is continuing to grow as one of Owensboro’s largest retail and dining destinations, with several new businesses preparing to open in 2026.

According to Gulfstream Development officials, Publix is on track to open in early spring, marking the regional grocery chain’s first location in western Kentucky. Kroger Marketplace, a larger-format version of the traditional Kroger grocery store, is also slated to open before the end of the year.

The development is also welcoming several new tenants in the coming months:

  • Dunkin’
  • Currito, a Cincinnati-based burrito and bowl chain
  • Ollie Wash, an express car wash concept
  • SunAuto Tire & Service
  • Nothing Bundt Cakes, a popular national bakery chain

Additionally, Sierra and HomeGoods — both under the TJX Companies umbrella — have already been confirmed and previously reported by the Owensboro Times.

Several pending leases are still under negotiation, and Gulfstream officials say additional announcements could come later this year. The development already features a robust mix of dining, shopping, and entertainment options, including Malco Owensboro Cinema Grill & MXT, Hobby Lobby, Chicken Salad Chick, Tropical Smoothie, Burlington, Ross Dress for Less, Burkes Outlet, and more.

In August of 2025, the Owensboro Times reported that Gulf Stream is actively working to bring several other dining options to the development.

Gateway Commons, located off KY 54 near the Hwy 603 and 6035 intersections, has steadily transformed into a major commercial corridor since construction began in 2017. The project spans hundreds of acres and is one of the largest mixed-use developments in western Kentucky.
